(S4) enhancing psychosexual therapy: the role of devices in managing erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and Vaginismus

Abstract Background The integration of technology in sexual therapy has become increasingly relevant, particularly for treating erectile dysfunction (ED), premature ejaculation (PE), and vaginismus. Devices designed to enhance sexual function and alleviate psychological barriers serve as vital tools in psychosexual therapy, aiming to improve both patient outcomes and overall satisfaction. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of various therapeutic devices in managing ED, PE, and vaginismus, emphasizing their potential to enhance therapeutic outcomes and patient engagement in the treatment process. Methods A comprehensive literature review was performed, focusing on studies that assessed the application of devices such as vacuum erection devices, penile rings, biofeedback tools, vaginal dilators, and pelvic floor muscle trainers. The review examined patient outcomes, satisfaction rates, and the improvement of sexual function across the three conditions. Results Preliminary findings indicate that the use of devices in psychosexual therapy significantly enhances sexual function and reduces performance anxiety. Patients reported increased confidence, improved sexual experiences, and a greater willingness to engage in therapeutic interventions. The combination of device utilization and psychosexual therapy led to substantial advancements in both physical and emotional aspects of sexual health. Conclusion Incorporating devices into psychosexual therapy presents a promising strategy for addressing ED, PE, and vaginismus. By targeting both the physiological and psychological components of these conditions, clinicians can foster improved patient outcomes and promote a holistic approach to sexual health. Further research is essential to establish standardized protocols for the integration of device use in sexual therapy.
