(S10) erectile dysfunction in covid 19 male patients: a comparison study between hospital and home quarantine sample

Abstract Background Male Sexual function markedly affected during covid-19 pandemic worldwide, usual preventive public health measures to prevent covid-19 infection such as social distancing, quarantine and isolation of patients should be considered as a serious factor for development of such bad effect on sexual function. This research aims to study the effect of hospital quarantine versus home treatment measures on male sexual function. Methods A comparative cross-sectional study was conducted 64 male patients who got infected then they had the treatment measures till they become COVID-19 negative PCR test at least one month before the study using the Arabic validated version of the international erectile function index (IIEF). Results The results of ILEF shows that two thirds of participants (68.7%) showed some degree of erectile dysfunctions graded from mild (27.3%) to severe erectile dysfunction (18.1%) with a median of 21.5 (4– 29). There was a significant association between hospital admission during COVID-19 infection and erectile dysfunction (p1 < 0.001). Educational level had a significant association with scores of erectile functions, intercourse satisfaction and overall satisfaction, while work and smoking showed no significant association with any item. On the other hand, hospital admission during COVID-19 infection showed a significant association with all parameters of ILEF (p’s < 0.05). Erectile dysfunction showed a significant a negative correlation with age. Conclusion During COVID-19 pandemic male sexual function markedly affected. Hospital quarantine play an important role in sexual dysfunction development.
