Analysis of the efficacy of photodynamic therapy for thickened port wine stain
Port wine stain is a congenital capillary malformation that is more present on the face and neck. As the patient ages, Port wine stains will gradually darken in color, thicken the skin, and even present nodular hyperplasia. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of photodynamic therapy on thickened Port wine stains. A retrospective study was conducted on the records of treatment centers from 2017 to 2024. Analyzed and recorded the types, locations, and treatment effects of skin lesions. 205 patients were identified and included, including 69 patients with skin thickening and 136 patients without thickening, aged between 12-58 years old The treatment effect of thickened skin lesions is lower than that of non thickened skin lesions. This study suggests that port wine stain lesions should be intervened early, before thickening occurs.
