Observation of the Therapeutic Effectiveness of 5-Aminolevulinic Acid Photodynamic Maintenance Therapy in 30 Cases of Lichen Sclerosus Et Atrophicus(LSA)

LSA is a chronic inflammatory skin disease mpacting patients' quality of life. Traditional treatments have limited efficacy and high recurrence rates. ALA-PDT, a novel treatment, has shown promise by generating reactive oxygen under specific wavelengths to destroy lesion cells. Thirty female patients with LSA were selected for 2 years. The treatment involved an initial phase of ALA-PDT for three sessions, followed by a maintenance phase every three months for one year. Efficacy was assessed using a clinical scoring system for vulvar areas and overall therapeutic response. The initial treatment resulted in an 86.7% total effective rate, with significant symptom improvement. The maintenance treatment further increased the total effective rate to 93.3%, with a low recurrence rate of 10.0% after six months of follow-up. ALA-PDT maintenance therapy is effective and safe for treating LSA, improving clinical symptoms and reducing recurrence rates
