Evaluation of the efficacy of carbon dioxide laser combined with 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy in treating high-grade vaginal squamous intraepithelial lesions after hysterectomy for cervical cancer and precancerous lesions: A Retrospecti

This article investigates the efficacy and safety of CO2 laser combined with PDT in the treatment of high-grade vaginal squamous intraepithelial lesions (VAIN) after hysterectomy. It was a retrospective study that 30 patients received once CO2 laser, 30 patients received six times PDT and 30 patients received once CO2 laser once and three times PDT. The HPV clearance rate in the laser + PDT Group was higher than that in the laser Group (80.00% vs. 46.67%, P < 0.05) and the PDT Group (80.00% vs. 53.33%, P < 0.05). The lesions’remission rate in the laser + PDT Group was higher than that in the PDT group (90.00% vs. 63.64%, P < 0.05), and was similar with the laser Group (90.00% vs. 76.67%, P > 0.05). The efficacy of CO2 laser combined with PDT in treating high-grade vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia after hysterectomy is confirmed.
