Clinical Efficacy of Photodynamic Therapy for Female Lower Genital Tract Diseases

This study explores the clinical effectiveness of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in treating cervical squamous intraepithelial lesion (CIN) and vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia (VAIN) in females. The study included 65 patients who underwent PDT between January and July 2024 and completed a 6-month follow-up, with 37 patients completing the review. The study evaluated HPV infection and lesion clearance. For CIN1 patients (n=17), the HPV negativity and complete cure rates were 53% each, with an effective rate of 88.2%(15/17). Among CIN2-3 patients (n=5), both HPV negativity and complete cure rates reached 100%(5/5). For VAIN patients (n=15), the HPV negativity rate was 53%(8/15), the complete cure rate was 60%(9/15), and the effective rate was 100%(15/15). This study demonstrates that photodynamic therapy for female lower genital tract diseases has high efficacy and safety, especially in CIN2-3 patients, and is worthy of further promotion and application in clinical practice.
