Study on the Effect of Topical Application of Tetracaine Hydrochloride Gel on the Vulva in Relieving Pain Caused by Photodynamic Therapy for Vulvar Lesions
Photodynamic therapy for vulvar lesions often causes pain, harming patients' treatment & quality of life, and may trigger anxiety. As a local anesthetic, tetracaine hydrochloride gel can block nerve conduction to relieve pain. This study explored its role in vulvar photodynamic therapy to find an effective clinical analgesic method. A retrospective study of patients from Oct 2020 - Dec 2024 was done. They were divided into an observation group (using the gel) and a control group (local cooling). VAS, SAS, & DLQI were used to evaluate at different time points. The observation group had lower VAS scores all the time, showing better pain relief. Their post - treatment SAS scores were lower, and DLQI scores were lower at relevant times, indicating less anxiety and better quality of life. Topical tetracaine hydrochloride gel effectively relieves pain, reduces anxiety, and improves quality of life, worthy of clinical promotion.
