The Safety and Efficacy of PDL Combined with Hemoporfin-PDT Sequential Therapy for Treating PWS: Two Case Reports
Although PDL is traditional therapy for PWS, it has limitation of relatively low treatment rate. Hemoporfin-PDT, which has satisfactory efficacy, can only be used in patients over 1-year-old. In view of early treatment could result in greater effectiveness, we confirmed the safety and efficacy of sequential therapy with PDL before one year old and Hemoporfin-PDT after one year old for treating PWS. The lesions of two 6-month-old children were categorized into the Sequential side and the Hemoporfin-PDT side. Efficacy of PDL combined with Hemoporfin-PDT sequential therapy is superior to merely Hemoporfin-PDT for treating PWS. The Sequential side were nearly completely resolved, while the Hemoporfin-PDT side only partially reduced. No significant differences in adverse effects between two sides. PDL before one year old combined with subsequent Hemoporfin-PDT sequential therapy is a safe treatment strategy on PWS, which is more effective than merely Hemoporfin-PDT after one year old.
