A case of gingival dysplasia treated by PDT combined with immunotherapy
The patient is a female with a mass on the right lower lip for one year. She has a history of oral leukoplakia malignancy. She started immunotherapy (pembrolizumab) in December 2023. After biopsy, the pathology indicated a high-grade epithelioid lesion. After consideration, it was decided to use Er:YAG laser + PDT treatment + immunotherapy. The patient completed a total of 5 PDT treatments from July to September 2024 and achieved good results. Later, due to economic reasons, she did not receive subsequent treatments in a timely manner. In November 2024, she returned for a follow-up visit and informed the doctor that the primary lesion on the left side had recurred and she had undergone surgery at another hospital. However, the biopsy results of the right side indicated that the pathological and immunohistochemical results of the right gingival area had improved compared to before.
