Photodynamic Therapy Effectively Treated Rosacea with Facial Flat Warts Following Unsuccessful Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment: A Case Report
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition. When combined with facial flat warts, treatment becomes more challenging. Conventional treatments for rosacea may not effectively address the wart lesions, while standard wart treatments can worsen rosacea symptoms. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged as an effective treatment for rosacea, targeting its inflammatory and microbial factors. This case report explores the effectiveness of PDT in treating rosacea accompanied by facial flat warts. A 31-year-old female with rosacea and flat warts, unresponsive to CO2 fractional laser, received IPL-PDT after standard treatments failed. Clinical evaluation focused on erythema, papules, pustules, and wart resolution. After two IPL-PDT sessions, the patient showed significant improvement. The flat warts resolved, and rosacea symptoms, including erythema and papules, were markedly reduced. This case demonstrates PDT's effectiveness for rosacea, particularly in patients with coexisting refractory facial flat warts.
