Photodynamic therapy (PDT) for bronchial adenoid cystic carcinoma: A case study
The purpose of this case report was to evaluate the efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) for a patient with bronchial adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC). A 59-year-old female patient was diagnosed with bronchial adenoid cystic carcinoma in our hospital and she had an irritating cough. After a series of clinical data analyses, laboratory examination, and general anesthesia evaluation, the lesions were treated with PDT and the necrotic matter was removed by biopsy forceps and frozen repetitively to relieve bronchial lumen stenosis under general anesthesia electronic bronchoscopy. After the treatment of PDT and mechanical debridement, the patient's symptoms of cough, chest tightness, and shortness of breath were relieved and the stenosis of the lumen was improved under bronchoscopy. PDT is a safe and effective therapy for bronchial stenosis in patients with bronchial adenoid cystic carcinoma.
