The role of vascular-targeted multifunctional nanomaterials in the treatment of mouse hemangioma

This study explores the role and mechanism of PDT mediated by the near-infrared photosensitizer Al(III) phthalocyanine chloride tetrasulfonic acid (AlPcS4) combined with VCR in treating mouse hemangioma. The CCK-8 assay and Calcein/PI dual-staining were employed to evaluate the effects of VCR and AlPcS4 on EOMA cells. The dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate and singlet oxygen sensor green were used to detect ROS production. HUVECs were used for tube-forming ability assessment. EOMA cells were subcutaneously injected into Balb/c nude mice to create tumor-bearing models. Once tumors were palpable, their volumes were calculated. Mice were grouped and treated, and tumor volume, body weight, and tissue damage were monitored. CCK-8 assay showed AlPcS4-laser-VCR group had lowest cell viability. Calcein/PI dual-staining, tube-formation assay and animal experiments indicated its strongest effect on EOMA cells with no major organ toxicity. AlPcS4-mediated PDT combined with VCR can inhibit the growth of EOMA cells, aiding hemangioma treatment.
