CuS@Pt@PDA@IR820 Nanomaterial for Combined Photothermal and Photodynamic Therapy
This study presents the design and synthesis of a multifunctional nanocomposite, CuS@Pt@PDA@IR820, for combined photothermal therapy (PTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) in cancer treatment. The CuS@Pt nanostructure exhibits excellent near-infrared (NIR) absorption and photothermal conversion properties, enabling effective tumor ablation under NIR light irradiation. Platinum (Pt) acts as a catalyst in the hypoxic tumor microenvironment, promoting the conversion of H 2 O 2 into O 2 , thereby enhancing PDT efficacy by increasing the production of singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ). Polydopamine (PDA) serves as a stabilizing agent and efficiently loads the photosensitizer IR820, which generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) under NIR irradiation to induce PDT-induced apoptosis. The combination of PTT and PDT significantly improves the therapeutic outcomes, achieving enhanced tumor killing and minimal side effects on normal tissues. In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrate the promising antitumor potential of CuS@Pt@PDA@IR820 nanocomposites, making them a versatile platform for cancer therapy.
