ALA-PDT combine with liquid nitrogen cryotherapy for lip Low-grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion(LSIL):A case report

Lip low - grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) is a precancerous disease that can be secondary to chronic inflammatory stimulation. Due to its special location, it often severely affects the quality of daily life. Topical photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been used in the treatment of LSIL. Here, we reported a successful treatment of patient with lip Low-grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion with ALA-PDT combine with liquid nitrogen cryotherapy. A 61 - year - old male presented with recurrent lip ulceration for 5 months. Pathological biopsy suggested intraepithelial neoplasia. Before PDT treatment, the lesions received the spray of liquid introgen one time. Then 20% ALA-PDT was applied to the lesions. The pain level during the treatment is low and the patient received treatment at intervals of 10 days. After 3 sessions of treatment, the lesions were completely subsided. This suggested ALA-PDT combined with liquid nitrogen cryotherapy offers high efficacy.
