Application of PDT in Intraductal Papillary Neoplasm of the Bile duct: preliminary experience

This study preliminarily explores the clinical value of PDT in Intraductal Papillary Neoplasia of the Bile duct. A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients admitted for treatment of IPNB between January 2019 and December 2023. PDT treatment was performed via the T-tube sinus tract, ERCP, or PTCD pathway. The endpoints of the study include clinical success rate, re-obstruction rate of the biliary tract, adverse events. A total of 13 patients were ultimately included. The clinical success rate was 84.6% (11/13); The local control rate of lesions evaluated by cholangioscopy was 61.5% (8/13), and the secretion of mucus in the bile duct was significantly reduced ( Figure 1 ); the 6-month biliary re-obstruction rate was 7.7% (1/13), and the 12-month biliary reobstruction rate was 30.8% (4/13); Ten patients survived and three died. Preliminary experience shows that PDT is a safe and effective treatment for IPNB.
