Efficacy prediction model of Hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether photodynamic therapy for facial Port-wine stains

Hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether photodynamic therapy (HMME-PDT) is a promising therapy for port-wine stains (PWS). However, the efficacy varies among individuals and cannot be accurately predicted. Facial PWS patients who had undergone PDT from January 2019 to July 2023 were included. Logistic regression analysis was used to determine the efficacy influencing factors. The nomogram was used to score the efficacy influencing factors and construct a scoring model. A total of 863 patients were included. Age, PWS location, type of PWS, previous treatment history, PDT sessions, vascular and non-vascular features under dermoscopy were efficacy influencing factors of PDT in facial PWS. Based on these, a nomogram prediction model was constructed. The model's performance was good in terms of differentiation, calibration, and clinical utility. A nomogram was developed to predict PDT efficacy in facial PWS. It provides dermatologists with an accurate PDT efficacy prediction tool for facial PWS.
