The efficacy and safety of Hemoporfin-PDT for PWS: A case study of a pair of identical twins

Hemoporfin-PDT has not only been widely used in the treatment of PWS, but it has also shown good therapeutic effects. There is still a lack of high-quality clinical evidence on the long-term effects of Hemoporin-PDT on the central nervous system development of infants. A 3-year-old girl with erythema of the distal left upper extremity was diagnosed with PWS and treated with Hemoporfin-PDT. We assessed growth and development indicators of the child with PWS and her identical twin sister before each Hemopoietin photodynamic therapy session and 6 months after the last session. Patient's erythema of the left upper extremity was improved. No significant differences in height, weight, head circumference, or neurodevelopment were observed between children with PWS and her identical twin sister over a 5-year period. Hemoporfin-PDT for PWS is effective and does not affect the growth of young children.
