Efficacy of photodynamic therapy with aminolevulinic acid for the treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 3
The treatment of CIN3 with PDT is a non-invasive and selective tissue destruction, which doesn’t have a negative impact on fertility. Patients diagnosed as CIN3 were enrolled. Patients were treated by ALA-PDT. The primary endpoint was pathological regression. The secondary endpoint was HPV clearance. A total of 47 patients were enrolled. The pathological regression rate was 91.5% (43/47). HPV clearance rate was 78.7% (37/47). Multicentric lesions, the location of lesion and the proportion of visible lesion size in ectocervical size were risk factors of CIN3 persistence. ALA-PDT can be a safe and efficient treatment for CIN3 who wish to preserve fertility or the structure and function of the cervix.
