Interference and Blockage Mitigation Through Direct RF System-on-Chip Receiver
Direct RF sampling receivers utilizing integrated system-on-chip (SoC) architectures have gained popularity because of their ability to accommodate a wide spectrum of radio technologies, while significantly reducing hardware size. In this case, a wideband receiver eliminates the use of selective analog filters and is therefore vulnerable to potentially high levels of unwanted blocker signals. This paper presents a wideband receiver based on a direct RF System-on-Chip (RFSoC). The design benefits from the integration of a processor, programmable logic, and analog-to-digital converter on the same chip. To address the effects of blocker interference, an adaptive feedforward linearization algorithm is proposed. Performance is evaluated in terms of dynamic range improvement, including metrics such as signal-to-noise-and-distortion (SINAD), and the response time to mitigate the interference. Experimental Results indicate that this approach maintains accuracy while reducing processing time.
