SICKLE CELL ANEMIA
Sickle-cell anemia (SCA), the most severe form of sickle-cell disease (SCD), is a major hereditary blood disorder characterized by abnormal haemoglobin polymerization, chronic haemolytic anemia, and vaso-occlusive complications. Children with SCA are particularly vulnerable to neurological and cognitive impairments, often resulting from silent cerebral infarctions and cerebrovascular abnormalities.
