Complete chloroplast genome sequence data of Camellia aurea (Theaceae)
Camellia aurea belongs to the Chrysantha Chang section of Camellia in the family Theaceae. We sequenced and analyzed the complete chloroplast genome of C. aurea by Illumina sequencing in this study. The full length of the complete chloroplast genome is 156,588 bp, containing a pair of inverted repeat regions of 26,072 bp (IRa and IRb) separated by a large single-copy (LSC) region of 86,163 bp and a small single-copy (SSC) region of 18,281 bp. The chloroplast genome of C. aurea encodes 132 genes, comprising 88 protein-coding genes, 36 tRNA genes, 8 rRNA genes. Among these genes, 14 genes contain a single intron and 3 genes contain 2 introns. The total GC content of C. aurea is 37.33%. Phylogenetic analysis based on 75 chloroplast genomes reveals that C. aurea and Camellia huulungensis form a clade with 100% bootstrap support. This study will be useful for further research on genetic diversity and phylogenetic research of Camellia .
