Analysis of Domestic and International Research Trends on AI-Based Sports Wearables
This study analyzed 40 domestic and international research papers on AI-based sports wearables published between 2015 and 2024 to identify current trends and characteristics. The analysis revealed that domestic studies were heavily concentrated in 2020–2021, showing a surge in short-term, technology-oriented research, while international studies demonstrated steady and continuous growth up to 2024. The largest proportion of studies focused on equipment and system development, followed by performance and training, injury prevention, and physiology and health. Domestic research primarily emphasized experimental verification and prototype development, whereas international studies adopted more empirical and multidisciplinary approaches, often involving large-scale collaborations and long-term datasets. These findings indicate that while technological advancement remains a central theme, greater attention should be given to the integration of AI technologies with sports policy, data standardization, and athlete health management. The study underscores the importance of establishing sustainable domestic research networks and expanding applications toward injury prevention, health monitoring, and evidence-based performance enhancement.
