A Comparative Study on the Perception of Students and Teachers on the Operation Effect of Customized Physical Education Curriculum for Student Selection
This study explored teachers' perceptions of personalized physical education instruction and analyzed the impact of such instruction on student motivation and learning satisfaction. The results are as follows.
First, existing physical education classes have shown low student satisfaction due to differences in physical strength and stamina, imbalanced participation, and limitations in time and content structure resulting from mixed-gender classes. However, customized physical education classes based on student choice have been shown to positively impact class quality and participation motivation by reflecting student needs and leveraging teacher expertise.
Second, customized physical education classes tailored to student preferences increased student interest and participation, and had a positive impact on skill acquisition and physical fitness. Furthermore, the study confirmed that this teaching method is effective in enhancing teachers' teaching expertise, ensuring balanced participation among students, and complementing the limitations of traditional physical education classes.
Third, despite the effectiveness of these customized physical education classes, the study revealed that cooperation and systematic support among all educational stakeholders—students, teachers, and school administrators—are essential for the continued development and efficient operation of the curriculum. It was confirmed that without sufficient institutional and environmental support, class operations can be limited.
