Towards transformative and equitable responses to obesity: Brazil's systemic approach
Nomathemba Chandiwana and colleagues (October, 2025)1 offer a timely reflection on the urgency of equitable strategies to address obesity worldwide. Their emphasis on the syndemic nature of obesity—intertwined with food and nutrition insecurity and climate change—is particularly pertinent. Effective responses should adopt intersectoral and intersectional approaches that recognise obesity as a complex social occurrence, shaped by inequalities and stigma that mask its multidetermined nature.
