Факторы реализации гуманистической функции социологии
The article focuses on the interpretation of the humanistic function of sociology as a critical component of its theoretical and practical development. The author emphasizes that fulfilling this function requires addressing social imperfections - such as injustice, inequality, violence, poverty, and others - and critically analyzing them to reduce human suffering. The conditions for realizing sociology's humanistic function are examined, which is defined as the discipline's capacity not only to identify social flaws but also to contribute to their resolution. The author highlights that the successful implementation of the humanistic function necessitates a specific worldview foundation rooted in the values of empathy, compassion, and respect for human dignity. The article explores philosophical ideas that can support this endeavor, as well as those that hinder the realization of sociology's humanistic function. Particular attention is given to the ethical constraints in selecting research methods and the importance of their careful application. Ethical responsibilities of sociologists are discussed, especially when employing methods such as experiments and participant observation. The problem of the manipulative use of sociological knowledge is also addressed. The author underscores the necessity of maintaining a balance between scientific rigor and the humanistic orientation of sociology.
