Optimization of aerodynamic performance of tandem dual wind turbines based on the Taguchi method
In order to investigate the wake disturbance effects and overall output power under different wind farm layout strategies, two horizontally arranged tandem wind turbines are analyzed, and the aerodynamic performance of single and double wind turbines is compared and analyzed using FAST software and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, and the accuracy of the proposed CFD simulation method is verified. The overall power generation performance of the tandem dual wind turbines is then analyzed under different lateral spacings, tower height difference and yaw angle. Based on the influence of different factors on the power output, the Taguchi optimization design method is adopted, and a L9(33) Taguchi orthogonal table is constructed with three parameters at three levels. The results show that the overall output performance of the tandem dual wind turbines increases with the larger lateral spacing and tower height difference, and first increases and then decreases with the increasing yaw angle, reaching the maximum value at a yaw angle of 20°, and the main factors affecting the total power are the lateral spacing and tower height difference, and the yaw angle has the least influence. The optimized parameter combination increases the total output power by 64.65% compared with the initial design of wind turbine. This study provides a useful reference for optimizing wind farm layout design.
