JUSTIFICATION OF CHOOSING THE COMPOSITION OF A POLYMER COMPOUND PROTECTOR ON AN ABRASIVE FOR HYDROABRASIVE CUTTING UNDER WATER
The results of a theoretical study of energy characteristics of intermolecular interaction of the polymer solution with the abrasive surface are presented to justify the choice of an abrasive compound protector for hydroabrasive cutting under water. The types of interactions of the polymer solution with the abrasive depending on their properties, as well as on the environmental conditions are found. Using the value of the wetting angle between the polymer solution and the abrasive and taking into account the density formulas are obtained to determine energy characteristics defining the adhesion bond of their molecules. An equation of interaction force of molecules located on the surface of the polymer solution with the abrasive surface is obtained according to the known coefficients of surface tension and the value of the wetting angle. The application of the proposed mathematical dependencies makes it possible to select the type of polymer that will ensure the formation of a uniform coating on the abrasive and its strength. Experimental data are presented which were obtained at certain wetting angles PVAC, PC, CA, and PF polymer solutions on the support surface made of Al2O3. The energy condition of molecules at the interface of the two phases and the work of adhesion are calculated. Polymer types for coating the abrasive are defined in the installation with a fluidized bed and some recommendations are made.
