Veterinary aid to support Ukraine
I AM a vet, long retired after a lifetime working with deer, which often entailed journeys to eastern Europe for conferences and to deliver deer to embryo deer farms and parks. I developed a great affection for this part of the world and, like everyone else, I watched with huge optimism as the Berlin wall came tumbling down at a time when so much opened up. Now that optimism is being eroded and I want to do something to help. I plan to drive my elderly Range Rover to Ukraine as part of a convoy organised by Scottish farmers through their organisation, Pickups for Peace (P4P). It would be a wonderful gesture if we could load the vehicle with veterinary equipment or goods which might help on the front line. I would like to ask vets to consider making a donation at www.justgiving.com/pickupsforpeace, marking their gift as ‘vet’, or to contribute whatever veterinary materials they think might be helpful in a country at war. I may be able to collect any goods and can be contacted at the email address below.
