From the Editor-in-Chief: Highlights of the Ninth Issue
We are pleased to present the ninth issue (April–June 2025) of the JAPA Academy Journal, which features a diverse selection of articles spanning multiple clinical disciplines. CLINICAL OUTCOMES OF FLUID RESUSCITATION WITH SODIUM BICARBONATE RINGER’S SOLUTION IN PATIENTS WITH HEMORRHAGIC SHOCK: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS This comprehensive analysis evaluates the efficacy of sodium bicarbonate Ringer’s solution in the management of hemorrhagic shock. The authors conclude that while mortality outcomes are comparable to those observed with crystalloid solutions, the bicarbonate-based solution is associated with reduced hospital length of stay and fewer complications. PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS DOWN SYNDROME: A NATIONWIDE CROSS-SECTIONAL SURVEY IN JORDAN In this national survey, Shewaikani et al. assess public awareness and attitudes toward individuals with Down syndrome in Jordan. Their findings reveal a generally high level of awareness and positive perceptions among the general population. NAVIGATING VEXAS SYNDROME: FROM GENETIC MUTATIONS TO CLINICAL MANAGEMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH STRATEGIES This narrative review explores VEXAS syndrome, a recently identified inflammatory disorder linked to somatic mutations. The authors provide an in-depth discussion of the syndrome’s pathogenesis, diagnostic challenges, and emerging management approaches. GLP-1 AGONISTS AND EXERCISE FOR WEIGHT REDUCTION: A REVIEW OF CURRENT EVIDENCE This review article critically examines the role of GLP-1 receptor agonists in weight management, highlighting their efficacy, safety profile, and synergistic potential when combined with lifestyle interventions. In addition, the issue features a compelling letter to the editor titled “Urgent Reforms Needed to Address Cosmetic Surgery Malpractice in Jordan,” which advocates for policy reforms to address growing concerns in this area of practice. We extend our sincere appreciation to our contributing authors, peer reviewers, and editorial board members. Their dedication and collaborative efforts continue to advance the mission of JAPA Academy Journal and uphold the standards of scholarly excellence.
