Enhance the diodicity of Tesla valve based on local microstructure
The Tesla valve is a special type of passive check valve that has no moving parts inside compared to conventional check valves. Therefore, it has good application prospects in macro and micro fluid control systems. In this paper, the computational fluid dynamics simulation calculation and experimental verification of simulation are adopted to study the diodicity of Tesla valve based on a local microstructure. It was shown that models with microstructures have different degrees of improvement in the size of the separation vortex formed at the T-junction as well as in the diodicity of the valves in comparison to the non-microstructured model. Among all the models, the one with a microstructure height of 0.4 mm and a distance of 0.4 mm from the T-junction II had the best diodicity and the largest separation vortex. It was also found that the model with microstructures produced more drastic pressure fluctuations compared to the non-microstructural models in both forward and reverse flows.
