Thermo-optical properties of liquids, glasses, and semiconductors for fiber-based nonlinear photonic applications
This study explores the potential of liquids as core materials for reconfigurable nonlinear photonic systems, with a focus on temperature-controlled dispersion tuning. We compare the thermo-optical properties of liquids, semiconductors, and composite glasses, and evaluate their impact on dispersion through numerical simulations of representative fiber geometries. The results highlight the distinctive combination of low dispersion, high thermo-optical coefficients, and low optical losses offered by liquid-core fibers, positioning them as an exceptional platform for versatile fiber-based nonlinear applications. The findings provide a foundation for the development of advanced reconfigurable photonic systems, paving the way for applications such as optical computing and adaptive light sources.
