A comparative study of China's manufacturing individual champion enterprises and Japan's "Global 100 Niche Enterprises"

As the core driving force of China's economy, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have made outstanding contributions, covering a wide range of sectors and supporting employment, tax revenue and economic growth. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's 14th Five-Year Plan aims to build a echelon of innovative, specialized and new enterprises and manufacturing champions through a tiered cultivation mechanism. Among them, manufacturing individual champion enterprises have become industry benchmarks by virtue of their specialization, refinement, features and innovation advantages. In order to better make up for the shortcomings of China's enterprises in development, promote transformation and upgrading, and accelerate the high-quality development of the economy, the study describes the similarities and differences between China's manufacturing individual champion enterprises and Japan's "Global Top 100 Niche Companies" through the method of comparative analysis. Through comparison, it is found that China's manufacturing individual champion enterprises in the geographical distribution is similar to Japan, mainly concentrated in the economic core region and the country's important industrial zones. The establishment of years, Japan's "Global top 100 niche Companies" is significantly higher than China's manufacturing individual champion enterprises. In the enterprise scale, China is larger than the Japanese enterprises. China's manufacturing individual champion enterprises currently exist in the lack of geographically balanced development, long-term sound operation and technology accumulation, as well as the failure to effectively utilize government subsidies and other issues. In view of the above problems, the study puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to promote the multi-regional synergistic development of manufacturing single-champion enterprises, strengthen entrepreneurial spirit, and promote the multi-disciplinary expansion of core technologies.
