Analysis of the key point linking basic research and engineering applications

To examine the constraints hindering the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation, on the basis of the strategic position of applied mathematics, this article analyzes current situation of applied mathematics talents and platforms in China, and explores on how to identify top basic applied mathematics talents. Finally, some suggestions are given on the two key links of "scientificisation of engineering problems" and "mathematisation of scientific problems" in the linkage between basic research and engineering applications in terms of mechanism, talent and path.
