Celebrating the immune system

This Editorial introduces our latest Focus issue on Inflammation and Immunity. We were inspired by the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, awarded for discoveries in peripheral immune tolerance, but we were motivated to look further. We are delighted to present a broad selection of review and original articles that capture the diverse and intricate ways in which the immune system challenges researchers in the molecular life sciences. We hope you enjoy reading this Focus issue as much as we enjoyed curating it.
