Grey Areas in Restorative Dentistry: Part 9. Missing Lateral Incisors
Dentists are no longer just concerned with the management of diseases in and around the mouth, but also with the emotional welfare of those who come for care. A confident smile is an essential part of a person's mental wellbeing, and the major components of such a smile are teeth that exhibit symmetry and proportionality. Lateral incisors are an essential element of the appearance of the anterior teeth, and their absence detracts from the symmetry and proportionality. When they are missing, strategies are available to create acceptable and balanced looks for the anterior teeth. CPD/Clinical Relevance: Patients with missing upper lateral incisors will seek help to improve their smile.
