RADT-72. GLIOBLASTOMA MULTIFORME: A 5-YEAR REVIEW OF THE SURVIVAL OUTCOMES

Abstract BACKGROUND Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is most aggressive brain cancer with poor prognosis. The aim of this study was to analyse the survival rates and the impact of known factors on survival in the GBM patients treated at our tertiary centre in the UK in last 5 years. MATERIAL AND METHOD Retrospective analysis of 414 histologically confirmed GBM patients treated between 2017-2022. Analysis was done using SPSS Statistics version 28.0.1. RESULTS Median age was 61 years (range 20-80), 82 patients had total resection, 225 had subtotal resection and 107 had biopsy only, 359 (86.7%) patient received radiotherapy, 272 patients (65.7%) had concurrent temozolomide (TMZ) but only 186 patients (44.9%) received adjuvant TMZ, 362 patients were IDH1 wild type and 18 were IDH1mutant. MGMT methylation results were available for 207 (50%) patients only, 103 were unmethylated and 104 patients were methylated. The median OS of the whole cohort was 12 months (95% CI: 10.8-13.2). Patients with superior performance status (PS) had better survival than patients with poor PS [e.g. median OS – 18 months (PS 0) and 4 months (PS4)]. Survival was better in patients who had total resection than the patients who had biopsy only (median OS 16 months vs 6 months). IDH1 wild type had poor survival in comparison to IDH mutant GBMs (median OS 12 months and not reached). MGMT methylated patients had significantly better survival in comparison to unmethylated patients (median OS 16 months vs 13 months, P= 0.004), As expected, patient’s treated with Stupp’s regimen had better survival than patient’s treated with Perry’s regimen (median OS 16 months vs 10 months) CONCLUSIONS Our results are comparable to landmark studies. In our experience the extent of surgery, PS, presence or absence of molecular markers and treatment regimens used had a significant impact on the survival.
