Professor Takatoshi Ito

We, the three remaining Editors of the Asian Economic Policy Review (AEPR), were deeply shocked and saddened to learn that Takatoshi Ito had passed on 20 September 2025.He was a dear friend and colleague to all of us.The Editorial Board of the AEPR has decided to dedicate this issue of the AEPR to the memory of "Taka" as he was affectionately known when people communicated with him in English.Taka was a superstar in every sense of the word.He was elected a fellow of the Econometric Society in 1992 at the very young age of 42, in 2011 he was awarded the National Medal with Purple Ribbon (Shiju hosho), a prestigious Japanese honor awarded for
