Experimental Study on Settlement of Concrete and Bitumen Road Pavement
ABSTRACT The piling of plastic garbage has become a pressing worldwide environmental concern. Meanwhile, sustainable and long‐lasting transportation infrastructure is becoming more crucial. This research investigates the novel use of plastic trash in road construction, focusing on its absorption into bitumen and concrete pavements. Researchers investigated how bitumen containing plastic improves binding capacity, increases resilience to temperature and moisture fluctuations, and lasts longer. Plastic in concrete mixes is also being investigated for its ability to enhance performance under large loads, decrease brittleness, and increase compressive strength. In addition to enhancing mechanical performance and decreasing maintenance requirements, several experimental studies have proven that roads built with plastic additives offer a long‐term solution for handling plastic waste. The report highlights two primary benefits: reducing pollutants and improving road conditions. It also presents a realistic plan for achieving sustainable infrastructure goals.
