Fungal Fantasies: Series of Pulmonary Mycotic Manifestations
Fungal involvement in the lungs, known as pulmonary mycosis, can range from mild allergic disease to life-threatening invasive fungal conditions, particularly among immunocompromised individuals and those with underlying lung diseases. This case series highlights three distinct and complex pulmonary fungal involvement: Chronic cavitary pulmonary aspergillosis (CCPA) presenting with a fungal ball, pulmonary mucormycosis with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), and a third case of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) with mucocele. This case series aims to provide insights into the clinical presentations, diagnostic approaches, and management strategies for these three distinct pulmonary fungal infections.
