Interleukin-6 and Body Mass Index in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: A Critical Review
Serum albumin and total protein were measured, and a significant correlation of IL-6 was found with them. However, prealbumin, transferrin, and micronutrient status were not assessed.Positive acute phase reactants (e.g., procalcitonin, CRP, and ferritin) increase during inflammation, while negative reactants (e.g., albumin, prealbumin, and transferrin) decrease during inflammation.
