Optical Implementation of Integer Division Using Interlaced Line Masks
We propose a novel optical method for performing integer division N÷D, based on the superposition of two transmissive masks: a dividend mask (G1) encoding N lines, and a completer mask (G2) providing blocks of D sites. The combined pattern is read in blocks, yielding quotient q and remainder r directly. This Interlaced Line Divider (ILD) provides a hardware-level analog computation of Euclidean division, with potential applications in cryptography, optical sensing, and unconventional computing.
