Employees' Work Commitment, Motivation, and Service Quality
This study assessed the levels of work commitment, motivation, and service quality among employees of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) operating units in Region VI, Philippines, for the year 2023. A total of 186 permanent personnel from six provinces were selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using validated questionnaires adapted from Meyer and Allen (1991), Maslow (1954), and Parasuraman et al. (1988), and analyzed using SPSS with statistical tools including t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson’s correlation. Findings revealed consistently high levels of employee commitment, motivation, and service quality across all demographic and organizational classifications. Age was the only factor with a significant effect on work commitment, with older employees showing greater dedication. No significant differences were found in motivation or service quality across classifications. Strong positive correlations were observed among work commitment, motivation, and service quality, indicating that higher motivation and commitment are associated with improved service delivery. The study concludes that DILG Region VI maintains a motivated and committed workforce, contributing to effective public service. To sustain and enhance these outcomes, recommendations were offered to key stakeholders. DILG and LGU officials are encouraged to develop inclusive programs and recognize employee contributions. Human Resource officers should implement career development and wellness initiatives. Employees are urged to engage in continuous learning and feedback. Communities should provide input on service quality. Future researchers may explore additional factors influencing performance. These insights aim to support ongoing improvements in workforce development and public service delivery.
