Exploration of a Novel Nitrite Detection Method in Teaching: Integrating Fluorescence and Colorimetric Sensing into a Comprehensive Laboratory Module
This work presents a modernized lab module for nitrite analysis using a novel probe, AAC (4-(2-aminophenyl)-7-(diethylamino)-2H-chromen-2-one, C19H20N2O2), offering a safer and more sensitive alternative derived from recent research. The 12-h module follows a three-stage structure (Basic Theory–Method Validation–Comprehensive Application) that emphasizes hands-on problem-solving, method comparison, and solid-sample analysis via fluorescence spectroscopy. By adapting an advanced sensing strategy for undergraduate learning, this module strengthens critical thinking, engagement, and practical skills, effectively bridging innovative research with laboratory education.
