Crossing from Knowledge to Responsibility for Climate Change

I write this—and perhaps you read it—at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. My reflections are necessarily shaped by the distressing events at my own institution, the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, which now has the illustrious reputation of being among the first in the United States to invite students back to campus, and also the first to ask the majority of them to go home.

Abstract

I write this—and perhaps you read it—at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. My reflections are necessarily shaped by the distressing events at my own institution, the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, which now has the illustrious reputation of being among the first in the United States to invite students back to campus, and also the first to ask the majority of them to go home.
