Collaborative Environmental Approach for Aircraft Noise Management - Case Study at Jorge Chávez International Airport
Managing aircraft noise at existing airports is a challenging process involving multiple stakeholders, both public and private. The different objectives of each sector require a collaborative approach to reach sustainable outcomes. This study presents the implementation of a Collaborative Environmental Approach at Jorge Chávez Airport in Lima, through the Comité Técnico para la Mitigación de Ruido de Aeronaves (CTMRA), a multidisciplinary group from both the public and private sectors currently developing an Effective Aircraft Noise Mitigation Plan (PE-MIRA) under Balanced Approach by OACI. This paper presents the adaptation of the Collaborative Environmental Management (CEM) methodology, including its organizational conception and structure, working dynamics, key challenges, and strategies to overcome them. Finally, the results obtained, and the next steps are presented, highlighting the importance of interinstitutional cooperation in mitigating environmental impacts at airports.
