ACOUSTIC MEASUREMENTS AND OPTIMIZATION PROPOSALS FOR UFSM CONVENTION CENTER
This study provides a comprehensive acoustic assessment of the Convention Center at the Federal University of Santa Maria, emphasizing both the overall acoustic conditions of the venue and the impact of insufficient sound reinforcement in select areas. All measurements were conducted in accordance with the ABNT NBR ISO 3382-1 standard, utilizing an omnidirectional sound source and a set of calibrated microphones. The analyzed acoustic parameters-reverberation time (T20), clarity (C80), and definition (D50)-demonstrated considerable variability across the zones examined. Based upon these findings, specific acoustic interventions were recommended to enhance the auditory experience. Overall, this investigation underscores the critical importance of detailed acoustic measurements in guiding improvements for multi-purpose environments.
