The integrated acoustics teaching based on PBL in the Architecture and Urbanism Program at UFRN, Natal/RN, Brazil
The Architecture and Urbanism Program at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (CAU/UFRN), throughout its 50 years of existence, has undergone curricular restructuring, reflecting significant advancements, especially in its excellent evaluations. In 2014, it was recognized as the best program in Brazil in the National Student Performance Exam of the National Institute for Educational Research Anísio Teixeira (ENADE/INEP), and since this year, it has consistently received the highest score in the evaluation. A major milestone in this process was the transition to the third curricular structure, implemented in 1989, when problem-based learning (PBL) was introduced after two years of discussion and development. This paper aims to present the integrated teaching of Acoustics based on PBL, its developments, and its contributions to professional training. Currently, in its sixth curricular structure, professional education benefits from a pedagogical environment that enables a more comprehensive and articulated approach to problem-based acoustics education, surpassing previous curricular proposals.
