Target Sensing Performance in Disaster-Specific ISAC Networks

As sixth-generation (6G) wireless technology advances, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) networks hold strong potential for enhancing real-time monitoring in highly dynamic environments, including disaster scenarios. Ensuring uninterrupted sensing service and wide-area sensing coverage in such conditions requires effective utilisation of multiple network elements. This letter proposes a new performance metric, the dynamic ranging rate (DRR), to characterise sensing service continuity. Leveraging stochastic geometry, closed-form expressions are derived for sensing coverage and DRR, providing analytical tools for ISAC network evaluation. The simulation results closely match the analytical findings, validating the proposed model and providing valuable design insights for ISAC networks operating in challenging environments.
