Centralized gas detection and alarm management platform at Usiminas
Abstract The work addresses the systematic development, installation, and use of the real‐time monitoring system for toxic and flammable gas leaks at Usiminas. The system development was divided into stages of surveying existing detectors, developing the software and its subsequent optimization, and the training stage for the system monitoring professionals. The benefits of continuous gas monitoring at Usiminas in Ipatinga—Brazil include greater safety for workers, rapid response to incidents, operational efficiency, and data management. This approach strengthens the safety of operations within the company, minimizes risks, ensures compliance with audits and inspections, and aids the investigation of any event involving gas leaks.
