Synthesis and characterization of a novel meso -substituted BODIPY armed with an ethynyl functional hook for post-synthetic probe functionalization
BODIPY chromophores exhibit diverse applications, driven by their tunable optical properties and functional versatility. The meso position of BODIPYs profoundly influences their optical characteristics and functional potential. This study explores meso-substituted BODIPY derivatives and introduces a streamlined synthesis of a BODIPY building block featuring a 4-ethynylaniline moiety at the meso position. The method reported in this contribution offers a facile route using readily available starting materials, enabling the preparation of BODIPY derivatives that are readily available for further functionalization.
